In the first museum exhibition dedicated to the genre-bending artist and designer, the MCA will offer an in-depth look at the defining highlights of Abloh's career, including a program of cross-disciplinary offerings that will mirror the artist’s range of interests across music, fashion, architecture, and design. Learn more

MCA x VIRGIL ABLOH DESIGN CHALLENGE

We're teaming up with Virgil Abloh to host a design competition for Chicagoland youth ages 14-21.

The challenge is: "take something boring or broken and make it extraordinary." Entries should be submitted via Instagram and can take on any 2-D or 3-D form (drawings, fashion, objects, architectural renderings, etc). Start brainstorming! Learn more

As a continuation of the works in the galleries, a special Virgil Abloh pop-up store will be located on the fourth floor of the museum. Named and styled by Abloh and his team, "Church & State" features a retrospective of best-selling Off-White product and new, exclusive collections inspired by the exhibition. The store is accessible with a “Figures of Speech” ticket. Product is available in-store, on-site only.

Summer Tuesdays come alive on the MCA’s Anne and John Kern Terrace Garden with free music highlighting artists from Chicago’s internationally renowned jazz community. TUESDAYS ON THE TERRACE: Mike Reed with Special Guests

Mike Reed is the founding director of the Pitchfork Music Festival, the current programming chair of the Chicago Jazz Festival, and the owner and director of the acclaimed performing arts venue Constellation. Teens take over the MCA! The MCA’s Teen Creative Agency—25 curious, creative 15- to 19-year-olds from all over the Chicagoland area—present the seventh annual 21Minus. This festival of teen creativity and passion fills the museum with exciting, out-there projects that invite visitors to engage with the museum and each other in unexpected ways. Learn more

 
 

CHILL AT THE MCA: MEDITATION FOR VIEWING

Prepare for active art viewing with a 30 minute mindfulness practice led by guides from modern meditation studio CHILL Chicago. The sessions prepare audiences for active art viewing in the museum and take place in the Commons, the MCA's space for art and civic engagement. Learn more
